The Parish Council is looking to recruit a new Clerk

ADVERTISEMENT FOR PARISH CLERK  AND RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL OFFICER

The Council seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to take on the combined post of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO).

The post is part time, 16 hours per month. Working mainly from home, the hours of work are flexible except for travel to and attendance at meetings.

The starting salary for this post will be on the NALC (National Association of Local Councils) pay scale SCP14 (£15.31) and SCP16 (£15.82) and is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The Clerk must be IT literate and must be able to store a small amount of Council files securely at their home address. The Clerk must also be available to attend Council meetings in the evening, normally in every other month at 7:30pm.

Duties will include acting as the Proper Officer to the Council, compiling the agenda, minute taking, compilation of correspondence, filing and the maintenance of simple financial and payroll accounts.

Prior relevant experience would be an advantage.

The closing date for applications is 5.00pm on Friday 19 June 2026

Interviews are planned to be held during the period Tuesday 30 June – 2 July 2026

The starting date is planned to be 1 August 2026 in order to allow for briefing, training, shadowing at meetings, handover and handover of materials from the current Parish Clerk, prior to assuming the role on Tuesday 1 September 2026 with final handover complete by Wednesday 30 September 2026.
